Updated Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament seeds

The Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament seeds were voted on by the tournament coaches Sunday evening. Jackson captured the top seed.

Some of the math was wrong and the standings had to be updated. Scott City moved up to 12 and Meadow Heights dropped to 14.

Here is an updated list of the seeds:

I think Scott County Central should have been seeded higher.

Scott County is throwing a party tonight. They get Notre Dame and Jackson and avoid Cape or Charleston until the championship if they were to make it that far.

Dustin when will everyone just learn to let you pick the seeds... Just like you picked the Reds to win the Central... you know it all... It is just seeds that don't mean anything, especially when some of the teams haven't even played yet.

I actually think the seeds for this tournament are more accurate than the SEMO Conference Tournament.

It looks like the seeds are pretty close to what I would guess. I think Charleston is talented, but they do not have size to match up with the bigs of Jackson. Don't know what Cape Central brings except for their stud, but I believe Notre Dame will be close. It would have been nice to see what the seeds would have been if the tourneys would have concluded this past week. I believe Oran will beat SCC, but one never knows. Overall, pretty close. Should be a good tourney...I only see 7-10 and 8-9 games to be close. Second day will be hard to predict most of the games.

SIZE is way overrated Jackson seems to always have size and it doesn't really matter if their guards aren't any better than they have been in the past.

Guard play for Jackson got better at the end of last year...they got to their 5A Quarterfinals level. The starting guard was out most of the season with a fracture to the foot. I believe the fracture was caused by slipping on water on the court at the SEMO conf. I saw him slip during play and I saw players standing on the court with their water at the time out. I hope officials and coaches pay special attention to keeping water off the court.

Yep it's true, both the NFHS and MSHSAA have put forth an emphasis on watching the water boys this year. Don't worry about the silly hand checks or correctly enforcing intentional fouls, it's the dang water boys we have to watch out for!!

It's a no-brainer. Jackson should be the top seed. If Jackson plays to their potential they should win this tournament.

JoeFrank78 is really smart. But I wouldn't count out Scott County Central. I think SCC has a legitimate shot to win a state title this season in Class 1.

I saw SCC play once last year. They must be vastly improved to be a threat in this tournament. But, never say never.

I predict SCC wins the Class 1 state title this season if it can beat South Iron in the state playoffs.

if Jackson can handle the pressure, they should win but that's a big if. Cape is my sleeper. They played at Riverbend with basically no practice for their guards. Jamaal Cox needs good guard play to be successful and thats why his points were down. They have the talent to win the tournament. Charleston is always a threat and it will be interesting to see how closely the officials are calling the hand check and limiting aggressive perimeter defense.

And tonight is why I wish they would wait until after the semo conference tournament to seed the teams. 4 of those teams play in the SEMO Christmas tournament. I don't even have a dog in fight for the semo tournament but I think ND deserves the 1/2 seed at the SCT after beating charleston AND sikeston consecutively. When is the last time a SEMO team has beaten sikeston AND charleston in the same season, let alone consecutive games? And I'm sure there are those out there that would say it was a fluke but keep in mind flukes happen occasionally not twice in less than a week.
