Stone garners invite to Portsmouth Invitational Tournament
Southeast Missouri State senior forward Tyler Stone received an invitation to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, according to Southeast sports information director Jeff Honza.
According to the PIT website, 64 of the top seniors in college basketball are invited to participate in the tournament, which consists of 12 games throughout four days and is watched by representatives from every team in the NBA.
The tournament is slated for April 16-19 at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va.
Stone and fellow senior Lucas Nutt might not have played their last games for Southeast, either.
The Redhawks are being considered for two postseason tournaments, the College Basketball Invitational and the Collegeinsider.com tournament.
Southeast's Derek Gibson was named the Ohio Valley Conference baseball Co-Player of the Week after playing a big role in the Redhawks' series sweep of Belmont over the weekend.
He batted .636 and had six RBIs in Southeast's three games.
He went 3-for-4 in both Saturday's and Sunday's games, and had seven hits in the series, including a double and a triple.
SIU Edwardsville's Skyler Geissinger shares the honor with Gibson.
