Southeast announced departure of long-time softball coach
Southeast Missouri State softball coach Lana Richmond's contract will not be renewed, it was announced in a press release from the Southeast athletics department on Wednesday.
"After evaluating the current state of our softball program, I felt it was necessary to make a change in leadership," Southeast director of athletics Mark Alnutt said in the release. "I want to thank Lana for her 32 years of service at Southeast Missouri State University and wish her the best with her future endeavors."
The Redhawks were 11-34 and 3-20 in the Ohio Valley Conference this season and failed to make the OVC tournament for the third consecutive year.
Richmond, who had coached at Southeast for 32 years, compiled a record of 884-710-2 during her career at Southeast. During that time Southeast won five OVC regular-season titles, five OVC tournament titles and made five NCAA tournament appearances.
Southeast will begin a national search for a new coach immediately, according to the release.
