Southeast football assistant leaves to accept position at alma mater
Posted Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 3:45 PM
Southeast Missouri State assistant coach Travis Fisher has accepted a job as the defensive backs coach at the University of Central Florida.
Fisher, who spent one season at Southeast under first-year coach Tom Matukewicz as the cornerbacks coach, played at UCF from 1999-2001 after playing at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas for two years.
Fisher spent nine seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the second round as the 64th overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft.
He was the defensive quality assistant at UCF in 2013 before joining Matukewicz's staff.
The position is expected to be filled in the next few weeks.
