Southeast announces football schedules for next two seasons

The Southeast Missouri State football schedules for the 2015 and 2016 seasons was released on Monday.

The Redhawks, who finished 5-7 in coach Tom Matukewicz's first season at the helm, will begin next season against two-time defending Southeastern Conference East Division champion Missouri on Sept. 5 in Columbia.

Southeast then hosts regional rival Southern Illinois for Family Weekend on Sept. 12.

The Redhawks will play Indiana State, which finished last season ranked No.18/19 and reached the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, on the road Sept. 19.

Southeast will host Division II Shorter University, which is located in Rome, Georgia, on Sept. 26 before beginning Ohio Valley Conference play.

"We are very excited about our upcoming 2015 schedule," Matukewicz said in a press release. "It features a very difficult non-conference schedule. Being able to open at Mizzou, the defending SEC East Champion, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our team."

The Redhawks' OVC opener will be against Murray State at Houck Stadium on Oct. 3. Southeast will host Eastern Kentucky for Homecoming on Oct. 17, Tennessee Tech on Oct. 31, and UT Martin on Nov. 21.

The Redhawks travel to Eastern Illinois on Oct. 10, Austin Peay on Nov. 7, and OVC champion Jacksonville State on Nov. 14.

Southeast's 2016 season will kick off at Memphis on Sept. 3, 2016, and features non-conference games against Southern Illinois and Indiana State.

Guess allnutt needs some of the $ back for paying off Samuels with the same result! Hope the crying stops from the top, half this te is his! Playing mizzou is nothing more than putting the player ahead of himself (or all-nutts) for the money!

What are you talking about? Almost every FCS team plays a FBS team in the beginning of the year. It has nothing to do with paying Samuels

Semo first game last yr was against a d2 schools and it was the first yr they had football ! If I remember correctly , tuck said he wouldn't have it any other way! So to go from 1st yr d2 to mizzou is selling the kids out! IMO ! Just hope no one from semo gets hurt so I don't have to listen to tuck saying we just don't have the athletes! Half the team is his, man up! All I'm saying

You prove to me going from a start up babtist d2 on opening day last season to mizzou is not about the money and I will kiss ur *** in the courthouse square and give you 30 mins to draw a crowd! All-nutts is in a corner and gonna sell out the football team to pay for it! IMO

BonScott's right. SEMO has a money game every year. Last year it was Kansas to which they fared quite well I might add. In previous years they've played schools like Arkansas, Purdue, Cincinnati, etc. Just about every FCS school plays one (sometimes more) FBS school nearly every year to help fund the athletic departments. SEMO's no different, nor should they be.

LOL.. We played Kansas the next game. I assume we wanted a home game against a smaller school first since it was Coach's first year and first game. Good way to see what you have and get the fanbase excited. We then played Kansas who is a Big 12 team. Get your facts straight and actually know what you are talking about before. I have no clue what else you are talking about.

And yes college football and FCS schools playing FBS schools is all about the money. The payday FCS schools get by traveling to the big schools helps fund the Athletic Dept and other sports. We paid Baptist (not nearly as much money as we get to play a FBS school) to come play us last year. It is just part of college football. Money will always be king in just about any sport and any school.

"continue"to suck? When has he sucked? His 1st year with players he didn't recruit we ended up beating 2 ranked teams and make strides with this team. If it wasn't for so many injuries they probably would have been at least .500

Yes bin I have it figured out, alnutts job is on the line and twerk has to produce! But at what cost? Do you personally know any one playing for twerk? I do and he is an a** ! He says the same crap to everyone and he will continue to suck! As I have said take away the FIRST yr d2 school he played and his record is like all of semo's! And he did have his first urs recruiting class there! It wasn't all samuals ! But no matter he will suck

Just gonna give Bon 1 example how stupid twerk is! He says "we don't run a 40 in lingerie" they went helmets and shoulder pads only but went full contact! Guess who is gonna get sued when some highschool kid get hurt at twerks non-lingerie camp! That would be all-nutts! Don't get me wrong I have no problem with it, but twerk is gonna get burned, that's just one case! He is not that bright!

Schedule is made in advance is it not? Or is the article and ensuing comments all a paradox. Tuke didn't personally call down to MO Bap & schedule them, nor Mizzou.

As someone who has been around the two head coaches it became very apparent that Samuels wasnt running things the way a college program should've been, but was a fairly likable guy. Tuke had more wins and played competitively in more games than their talent level suggested this past year and has not once done anything that hasn't met expectations IMO.
