Southeast basketball player trying out for football squad
Southeast Missouri State's Aaron Adeoye recently completed his lone season with the Redhawks basketball team and now has set his sights on another Southeast athletics program.
The 6-foot-7, 237 pound senior is using the remainder of the Southeast football team's spring practices as a tryout in hopes of earning a spot on the roster for next season.
Adeoye, who averaged 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds and had 18 blocks and 17 steals for the Redhawks basketball team after transferring from Western Kentucky, began practicing with coach Tom Matukewicz's squad on Thursday, according to the Southeast athletic department.
His tryout will be as a defensive end, the position which he played at Marion High School in Marion, Illinois, where he earned all-conference honors for three years.
Southeast has nine remaining spring practices over the next three weeks, including the Spring Game at 1 p.m. on April 18.
