Rick Ray keeps Jamie Rosser on SEMO men's basketball staff
Former Dickey Nutt assistant Jamie Rosser will remain on the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball staff under new coach Rick Ray, the university announced Thursday.
"It is of the utmost importance to me that I surround our student-athletes with strong role models that demonstrate character and integrity," Ray said in a press release from the Southeast athletic department. "As I did my research and had time to interact with Coach Rosser, it became evident to me that he was the right man for the job. Coach Rosser has demonstrated the ability to recruit quality student-athletes and has made himself and his family a part of the Southeast Missouri State community. I am happy to have him continue his tenure here at Southeast."
Rosser, a native of Memphis, developed a pipeline of talent from his hometown to Southeast during his time on Nutt's staff. He served as the primary recruiter for Tyler Stone and Jarekious Bradley, who both were named all-Ohio Valley Conference, as well has Nino Johnson and Antonius Cleveland.
Southeast was the first college coaching job for Rosser, who previously coached at the high school and AAU level in Memphis. He came to Southeast in May of 2009 shortly after the hiring of Nutt, whom Rosser played for at Arkansas State.
Rosser, who Nutt promoted to associate head coach prior to last season, was the Redhawks' acting coach from the time Nutt was fired on March 23 until Ray was hired on April 13.
"I am so thankful to be part of this great community of Cape Girardeau and my family and I are very invested," Rosser said in the release. "Being able to continue to lead and develop guys here at Southeast is truly a blessing. Coach Ray gave my family and I a great gift to be part of his family. He is a great person and coach, and I can't wait to learn under his leadership. I would also like to thank Coach Nutt for giving me the chance to chase my dreams and for being there for me throughout my young adulthood and professional career."
The university has not formally announced any other additions to Ray's staff.
