Three SEMO football players named preseason all-Americans

The USA College Football FCS preseason all-American teams were announced on Tuesday and three Southeast Missouri State football players made the list.

Senior receiver Paul McRoberts and junior kicker Ryan McCrum were named first-team preseason all-Americans and senior running back DeMichael Jackson was named to the second team.

McRoberts, a first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference selection as a junior, finished the 2014 season with nine touchdowns and 711 yards on 44 catches. He missed five games in the middle of the season with a broken foot.

McCrum had a breakout year as a sophomore en route to being a first-team all-confererence kicker as well as a Sports Network third-team all-American. His 18 field goals were a single-season record for the program and the most in the OVC. He made four field goals longer than 50 yards and made 42 consecutive PATs before he missed his final attempt of the season.

Jackson, who missed four games after breaking his hand in the second game of the season, led the Redhawks with 734 yards rushing on 137 carries during his junior campaign. The second-team all-conference running back scored five touchdowns and had three 100-plus rushing games.

Southeast's season begins at Missouri on Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be televised on an SEC Network alternate channel.
