SEMO baseball schedule announced

The two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference regular-season champion Southeast Missouri State baseball team's 2016 schedule was announced Monday morning.

The Redhawks' season begins on the road at Lamar for a three-game series that starts on Feb. 19.

Southeast's home opener, following eight road games to start the season, is set for March 4 against Central Arkansas.

The Redhawks play at Ole Miss on March 8 and 9 and at Missouri on March 15 and 16. The defense of their OVC title begins with a road series against Eastern Kentucky March 11-13.

"We have put together a very solid and challenging schedule again this year," coach Steve Bieser said in a press release. "Early March will be a great test for us with back-to-back midweek contests against very good SEC competition and the start of our conference schedule."

Southeast's first home conference series is March 18-20 vs. defending OVC tournament champion Morehead State.

The Redhawks will play 26 games at Capaha Park. Their other home conference series are against SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, Murray State and Belmont.
