SEMO soccer's Hacker, Lierz earn OVC weekly honors
The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team had two players earn weekly conference accolades on Tuesday, as Alexis Hacker and Kindra Lierz were named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Defensive player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively.
Hacker, a freshman defender from St. Charles, Missouri, played the full 90 minutes in both of the Redhawks' season-opening wins last week.
She started and assisted in Southeast's 1-0 shutout win over Tennessee before assisting on Natasha Minor's game-tying goal in the 54th minute of the home opener against Illinois Springfield on Sunday. The Redhawks held the Prairie Stars to only five shots in the 3-1 win.
It's the sixth Goalkeeper of the Week honor for Lierz, who held the Volunteers scoreless in the season opener Friday in Knoxville. The junior from Springfield, Missouri, allowed a goal against Illinois Springfield but picked up three saves and was credited with the win in the net after Southeast rallied in the second half.
Lierz has 17 solo shutouts during her career in the net. She has 160 saves, which ranks fourth in the Redhawks' top-five category, and is fourth all-time with 21 wins.
