SEMO punter Alex Knight named OVC Specialist of the Week
Southeast Missouri State punter Alex Knight was recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference as Specialist of the Week on Sunday.
The senior, who hails from Boca Raton, Florida, punted eight times for 347 yards, averaging 43.4 yards per kick, in Saturday’s 17-10 loss against No. 2 Jacksonville State at Houck Stadium.
Knight had three punts land inside the 20-yard line and had a long of 55 yards. He remains the league’s top punter with 44.3 yards per punt, ranks fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision.
It’s Knight’s second OVC weekly honor of the season. He joins Austin Peay quarterback JaVaughn Craig (Co-Offensive, Newcomer) Tennessee State QB Ronald Butler (Co-Offensive) and UT Martin safety Kahlid Hagens (Defensive) as this week’s honorees.
