Former Jackson grad Dante Vandeven transferring from Southeast football program
Sophomore backup quarterback Dante Vandeven will transfer from the Southeast Missouri State football program, coach Tom Matukewicz announced Wednesday in a news release.
Vandeven is the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year after compiling a 62-percent completion percentage and throwing for 1,568 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight starts last season. He also rushed for 292 yards and six TDs.
This season the Jackson High School graduate has been the backup to Jesse Hosket. Vandeven hasn't revealed which school he plans to transfer to.
"Dante's decision to transfer was disappointing, but we will support his decision and grant him a full release to wherever he chooses to go," Matukewicz said. "Dante is a great person, and we wish him nothing but the best."
