It is a pretty huge achievement for a high school wrestler to win 100 matches during his or her career.
But to win 100 matches by fall? Now that's just amazing.
And that's exactly what Poplar Bluff Lady Mules wrestler Zoe Freeman did Tuesday night, when she pinned Dexter's Izzy Bruyette in their 235-pound match at Mules Gymnasium. It was the lone girls match of the night, which the Lady Bearcats won 24-18 thanks to four open-class forfeits.
Poplar Bluff fared much better in the boys match, downing the Bearcats 73-6.
Payton Edelman (113 pounds), Trey Huskey (120), DaSauni Warren (132), Zekey Camden (144), Garrett Dearborn (150), Noah Perkins (157), Karson Rolland (165), Travis Cozort (175), Guy Conner (190) and Diego Rodriguez (285) all pinned their opponents to win by fall, while Sam Massey (215) downed Kayden Hart in a 9-6, sudden-victory overtime decision.
Dexter's lone win came at 106 pounds, where Landon Ashland won by open-class forfeit.
It also was senior night for the Mules and Lady Mules, with Freeman, Rodriguez, Perkins, Huskey and manager Bailey Taylor being recognized Tuesday.
Poplar Bluff is back on the mat on Saturday at the Riley Baker Invitational Scramble in Eureka.

The Mules tied the game at 44 on Jay Edmundson's free throws with 3:18 left in the game, then took a 46-44 lead — their first of the game — when Dallas Williams hit two more free throws after a technical foul on the same play.
Poplar Bluff never trailed again.
Williams paced the Mules with 15 points, while Markell Heard added nine, J.R. Lathon had seven and the duo of Edmundson and Corban Thomas finished with six apiece.
