The task of beating Puxico in varsity boy’s basketball is a daunting one, and it becomes that much more difficult for Indian opponents if they aren’t at full strength.

BROSELEY — Fresh off winning the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament, the Puxico Indians did not not miss a beat as they opened the new year with a 65-37 win over the Twin Rivers Royals on Friday night. Both teams came in fresh off of victories last Monday in the last day of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament, with Twin Rivers knocking off Bloomfield 61-40 for the seventh-place consolation bracket title, and Puxico beating Dexter 64-60 in overtime to celebrate the tournament championship...

BROSELEY — The Twin Rivers Lady Royals ran away with an easy 62-29 home victory over the Puxico Lady Indians at their varsity girls basketball game on Friday night. Twin Rivers built an early lead thanks to an opportunistic defense and effective scoring that grew to more than 20 points at halftime. PUXICO – Fourth-year Puxico High School varsity boys basketball coach Bryant Fernetti knew that he wanted to prepare his talented team over the past couple of seasons for deep runs into the postseason, and with that in mind, he gladly scheduled a home-and-home series with Thayer, who is one of the most storied programs in Missouri.

The Puxico Indians are the top seed at this year’s Bloomfield Christmas Tournament. The Indians are 5-0 this season and are winning their games by an average of 26.8 points. Three of Puxico's five wins are by 35 points or more. The East Prairie Eagles, who finished second at last year's Bloomfield Christmas Tournament, are the No. 2 seed, with Dexter, Bernie, Kennett, Risco, Van Buren and Richland rounding out the top eight seeds...

The Puxico Indians boys basketball could not have picked a much better way to open the season last Saturday — and the Indians sustained that momentum into Tuesday's home opener.
