The Neelyville Tigers narrowly missed an upset, falling to Hayti 58-56 in overtime during the Class 2 District 1 championship. Hayti advances to face South Iron in the next round.

SENATH — The Neelyville Tigers boys basketball team fought to the end.

The Tigers, seeded fifth in the Class 2 District 1 Tournament, took No. 2 seed Hayti to overtime before falling 58-56 in the district championship game at Senath-Hornersville High School.

The score was tied at 47 at the end of regulation, but the Indians (17-4) outscored Neelyville 11-9 in the extra session to come away with the district title.

The Tigers end their season 13-14.

Hayti will host Class 2 District 2 champion South Iron on Monday evening. South Iron downed Van Buren 63-47 on Friday at Ellington to win that district.
