Woodland's senior guard duo of Addie Johnson and Chloe Goodwin provided more than half of the Cardinals' scoring output on Wednesday.

The pair combined for 40 points with Johnson scoring a game-high 24 points and Goodwin adding 16 en route to a 70-26 win over Oak Ridge at the Delta New Year's Tournament at Delta High School.

Johnson poured in 15 first-half points, while Goodwin provided 13 points in the first 16 minutes to give Woodland a 43-13 lead at halftime.

The Cardinals dominated the Bluejays in the second half as well, outscoring Oak Ridge 27-13 leading to a 44-point victory.

“Yesterday was the first practice where I had everybody competing as an entire team,” Woodland coach Paul Lynch said. “Hopefully, we finally try to get into a rhythm moving forward for the rest of the year.”

The Bluejays were led offensively by Reagan Howe who netted 15 points and was one of just three Oak Ridge players to score in the game. Freshman Madyson Ruehling contributed eight points and fellow underclassman Hailey Ward added a single bucket.

Overall, Lynch was happy with the improvement his team made from its tournament opener.

“For us, we just have to use our depth and keep improving game by game,” Lynch said. "I thought we moved the ball really well today and knocked down some shots, and that is what we didn’t do on Monday."

Woodland (4-7) will face Advance in the consolation final on Saturday at Delta High School.

Oak Ridge (1-6) will play Puxico in the first round of the Tri-County Girls Basketball Tournament on Monday at Advance High School.
