Portageville bounces back from setback with win
PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — After failing to Malden 57-49, Portageville bounced back with a 62-54 win over Senath-Hornersville on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The Bulldogs (10-6) are finding their groove after a challenging stretch, winning five of their past seven.
“The boys competed and played extremely hard in both games,” said Portageville coach TJ Smith. “We couldn’t get many shots to fall on Friday, but we didn’t let that tough loss deter us as we came out and put together a pretty good game on Saturday.”
Despite Jamarion Smith’s 19-point effort against the Green Wave (14-2), Portageville couldn’t hang on to a six-point halftime advantage.
Smith and Connor Jeffries shared the scoring load, each finishing with 17 points in the victory over the Lions (6-9).
Portageville will host Hayti (7-6) on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
