PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers rally past East Carter

NEELYVILLE — The Neelyville Tigers came back in the second half to defeat the East Carter Redbirds 50- 41 Tuesday night. Neelyville improved to 11-6, while the Redbirds saw their record drop to 6-9. “East Carter is a tough, well-coached team,” said Neelyville coach Brad Burdin. “We wanted to rebound well and in the first half didn’t quite get it done.” The Redbirds led the Tigers 27-24 at halftime. “In the second half, we did a better job,” Burdin said. “We were fortunate enough to come out with the win.” Neelyville’s Casen Stephens led all scorers with 20 points. East Carter’s top scorer was Wyatt Chase with 10 points.

EAST PRAIRIE 69, TWIN RIVERS 49

At East Prairie, the Twin Rivers Royals (9-8) fell to the East Prairie Eagles (13- 3) Tuesday night. The Royals were paced by Luke Hester, who scored a game-high 19 points in a losing effort. Ty Wallace led East Prairie with 16 points.

GIRLS DONIPHAN 74, CLEARWATER 8

The Doniphan Donettes improved to 14-0 with a dominating 74-8 win at home over the Clearwater Lady Tigers, whose record fell to 1-11. “For being off almost two weeks without a game, I think we played at a high level,” said Doniphan coach Adam Epps. Doniphan led 57-6 at halftime, and they held the Lady Tigers to just two free throw points in the entire second half. The Donettes’ leading scorer was Kensey Killian, with a game-high 19 points. Ellie White also scored 16 points for the winning side. Doniphan hosts Twin Rivers on Thursday in a conference matchup.
