Babe Ruth World Series Roundup Day 4: Tropics cap pool play on top

The Southeast Tropics finished the pool portion of the Babe Ruth World Series with a 12-3 drubbing of Stamford (CT) on Monday, Aug. 12, at Capaha Field.

Waylon Hale led the Tropics at the plate with a 3-for-4 night and two RBIs. Aaron Dunlap was the only other player with multiple hits.

Thomas Frakes pitched the full seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits and three strikeouts.

The Tropic finish on top of Pool B at 4-0 and have outscored opponents 49-15. They will return to action in the bracket stage on Wednesday.

Puerto Rico 5, Aruba 2

Diego Rodriguez pitched a complete game to lead Puerto Rico past Aruba to win their third straight game in the Babe Ruth World Series. Rodriguez allowed two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts. Francis Garcia led PR at the plate with two hits and two RBI, including an RBI triple in the third inning. Brian Provence led Aruba with a two-run single in the fifth inning.

Manassas, VA 15, Netherlands 0

Manassas forced a four-inning run rule on the Dutch, scoring 11 runs in the fourth inning. Three batters hit triples, including Eli Laughman and Luke Shearin, who each led the team with two hits each. Shearin drove in three runs from his triple during the fourth inning. Laughman threw the full four scoreless innings on the mound with seven strikeouts.

Mexico 3, Canada 0

Mexico got the upper hand of the international pitchers duel after scoring all their runs off wild pitches. Angel Corrales pitched six innings of shutout ball, allowing only three hits with nine strikeouts. Angel Alvarado closed out the game for Mexico.

Alabama 17, Salina, KS 2

Fuller Musgrove started the scoring for the Raw Dogs with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. He later hit a two-run single and another sac fly to led Alabama with four RBI. Jake Devalk went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI, and Hayden Phillips also drove in three runs to lead the Raw Dogs, who have outscored opponents 37-9.
