SIKESTON — The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, a PRCA Top 40 event, concluded its four-day run on Saturday night, August 10th, awarding over $178,000 in prize money to cowboys and cowgirls across eight disciplines.

Chance Oftedahl proved his versatility by claiming the coveted all-around cowboy title, earning $4,369 for his combined success in tie-down roping and team roping

Bareback Riding Heats Up

Rocker Steiner emerged victorious in bareback riding, scoring a high of 90 points on The Cervi Brothers’ Womanizer to take home $5,062. Cole Franks (86) and Orin Larsen (84.5) followed closely behind, finishing second and third respectively.

Steer Wrestlers Battle for Top Spot

The steer wrestling competition was a nail-biter, with Mason Couch edging out Riley Duvall for the average win. Couch clocked a combined time of 9.2 seconds on two head for a total payout of $3,005. Duvall finished a close second with a 9.4-second average, earning $2,487.

Team Ropers Show Teamwork Pays Off

The team roping competition saw Dalton Turner and Cooper Bruce showcase their partnership, averaging 11.4 seconds on two head to claim the top prize of $2,562 each. Andrew Ward and Kollin VonAhn weren’t far behind, finishing second with a combined time of 11.6 seconds.

Saddle Bronc Riders Tie for Top Honors

Drew Bordelon and Tegan Smith displayed impressive control in the saddle bronc riding, each scoring 86 points to share the win and the $4,397 payout.

Smith Blazes Through Tie-Down Roping

West Smith dominated the tie-down roping competition, recording a blazing-fast 7.6-second run in the second round to clinch the average win. His two-run total of 18.3 seconds earned him a $2,821 payday. Brock Pezanoski (18.6) and Cody Huber (19.7) rounded out the top three in the average.

Patrick Races to Barrel Racing Victory

Cindy Patrick emerged victorious in the barrel racing, navigating the course in a time of 16.27 seconds to claim the top prize of $4,341. Jessica Routier and Aubrey Sprouse trailed closely behind, finishing second and third with times of 16.35 and 16.40 seconds, respectively.

McElroy Reigns Supreme in Bull Riding

Cody McElroy conquered the bull riding competition, earning an 87-point score aboard the fearsome Cervi Championship Rodeo bull, Vitalix Anthrax. His impressive ride secured McElroy the top prize of $6,773.

Lucas Mooningham finished second with a score of 85 points, while Bryce Burnell took third place with 83 points. No other riders managed a qualified ride.

The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo once again proved to be a premier rodeo event, drawing top competitors and thrilling fans with exciting action.
