Teeter sisters help Kennett-Holcomb in 9-0 sweep over Caruthersville

CARTHURESVILLE, Mo. - Janet Hilburn and her players traveled to Caruthersville on Wednesday and shut out the Tigers on their home court.

Kennett-Holcomb walked away with a 9-0 victory after perfect performances from multiple players.

The pairings of Claire Bean and Handley McAtee along with the sisters Lydia and Laney Teeter put up 8-0 victories during their doubles matches.

This match was the first time the Teeter sisters played together as doubles partners this season. It was also Laney’s first match on Varsity this season as a sophomore.

Along with her 8-0 victory against Candace Alley and Nylah Stewart, she put up a shutout performance in her singles match as well. Laney Teeter beat Stewart 8-0 on the individual side of competition to go undefeated in her varsity debut.

Lydia Teeter also won her singles match against Candace Alley with an 8-0 victory. Bean and McAtee also finished with 8-0 performances in singles to add two more victories to Kennett-Holcomb’s win column. Bean beat Nicole Rawlings from Caruthersville and McAtee got a win over Caruthersville’s Alejandra Zuniga.

Olivia Rebstock earned an 8-0 singles win over Carutherville’s Charlie Burkhalter. Rebstock and Emory Kamper also had an 8-1 victory in their doubles match.

To complete the sweep, Kamper beat Anna Warren 8-3 in singles play.

This 9-0 victory gives Kennett-Holcomb a 9-01 season record. They currently sit at the top of their MSHSAA Class 1 District 1 assignment, right above Saxony Lutheran and North County. Saxony Lutheran is 8-1 while North County has an undefeated 8-0 record.

Caruthersville is at the bottom as they look for their first win with an 0-5 record.

Kennett-Holcomb will next host Sikeston at Kennett on Thursday Sep. 19 before they go on a three-day break from play.
