Dobbins sets state career doubles record as Lady Tigers win
NEELYVILLE — It was a record-setting day for Neelyville’s Reese Dobbins on Monday as her Lady Tigers defeated Chaffee 3-2.
Dobbins connected on an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning to get the 69th double of her high school career, eclipsing the old record of 68 set by Sullivan’s Kayla Urich in 2019.
Dobbins’s double loomed large in another way, as Chaffee rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning, resulting in that RBI double providing the Lady Tigers with the game’s ultimate deciding run.
September Presler, Anna Lack and Callei Moss each had two hits Monday for Neelyville, while Preslar had a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning for the game’s first runs.
Preslar also tossed three innings of relief for the win.
