BELL CITY, Mo. — Oran’s fall season ended with a bang — five, to be precise — as each senior sent the ball over the fence, leading to a resounding 16-0 win at Bell City on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Adding to their storied legacy, the Eagles (11-0) finished the fall campaign with a flawless record for the second consecutive year, and have won 27 straight games across the past three fall seasons.

“We had a lot of very good at-bats,” said Oran coach Joe Bickings. “Bell City is well-coached and always ready to play, but we were able to put together some really good swings. It’s something that I hope we can build off of going into the spring.”

Carson Kern set the tone early against the Cubs (8-4) with a three-run homer in the first inning. Kole Burger delivered a two-run jack in the second inning to increase the lead to 5-0.

Not to be outdone, Parker Bryant followed suit later in the same inning, pushing the score to 6-0 with a solo shot.

In the third inning, Rylan Mills continued the home run barrage, extending the lead to 10-0, and Rolen Heuring capped off the remarkable senior longball feat, connecting on a powerful shot over the right field wall to make it 12-0.

“It was a great moment and hopefully, we can build some confidence from it,” Bickings said.

Kern also achieved a no-hitter over four innings, striking out six batters and allowing only one walk.

The fall season serves as a crucial period for building skills and confidence, setting the stage for the spring. Bickings emphasized the importance of using this time as a foundation for future success.

The progression of younger players, such as junior Cooper Bryant and sophomore Brashears, was also noteworthy. Both players showed promise in hitting and pitching, indicating a bright future for the team.

“We moved people around this fall to get them experience and see what they can do.,” Bickings said. “[Cooper] surprised me a little bit and had some good hits. [Brashears] worked on his swing all summer and he’s hitting a lot of line drives.”

Oran appears to be a freight train barreling down the tracks, unstoppable and unforgiving. The fall season was just a warm-up. The real show starts in March, and the competition better hold on tight.
