KENNETT, Mo. - The 6-0 Dexter Bearcats traveled to play against the 0-6 Kennett Indians in a pink out rivalry game.

Dexter won 53-0, giving Kennett their second worst loss of the season.

Jett Grams, Dexter’s leading rusher, was a target for Kennett’s defense. The Indians were able to hold him slightly to 46 yards and one touchdown. He said he was happy to pull out their seventh win against their Kennett rivals.

“It was a good game,” Grams said. “I love Kennett, I have some friends on that side and we are cool. It was a good game, this rivalry just makes us play hard and enjoy the sport.”

The number three ranked Bearcats had a strong start against Kennett, scoring their opening three touchdowns in the first quarter.

Their offensive journey started after an interception caught by Elijah Ibrahim to give Dexter possession. This led to a five drive run and the first touchdown of the game scored by Jett Grams. Kennett halted the two point conversion attempt to keep the game 6-0. This was Grams 12th touchdown of the season. He came into this game with 683 rushing yards on the year.

A few minutes after this scoring drive, Langston Werneck caught a touchdown pass from Jackson Howard to make it a 12-0 lead.

The third touchdown of the night was scored on a catch by Ibrahim, his first of the night. Dexter completed their first extra point conversion on this touchdown, putting the score at 19-0.

After an opening quarter which lasted 40 minutes, Dexter continued their offensive streak in the second quarter with a 30 yard rushing touchdown by Nolan Alford. He gives the Bearcats a 26-0 lead.

Ibrahim caught his second touchdown pass of the night after this play and extended the lead to 33-0 heading into the half.

The score runs up to 40-0 for Dexter in the opening seconds of the second half on a 73 yard receiving touchdown, caught and ran in by Lee-Michael McDonald.

Seven minutes after scoring his first touchdown of the night, McDonald scored his second touchdown on a 50 yard receiving touchdown. He helps bring the Bearcats to a 47-0 lead.

The score goes to 53-0 after a rushing touchdown score by Rylee Cochran to carry out the ball game.

McDonald led the way for Dexter with 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Howard threw six touchdown passes with 228 total passing yards and 12 completions.

On defense, Jason Hervoyavich and Jaxon Miller had 9 tackles each.

For Kennett, Ty Jones had 84 passing yards. Zayne Franklin led the team with 44 receiving yards while Antonio Hollywood had 43 rushing yards. Austin Gattis and Kevin Thompson had five tackles each on defense.

Dexter is now 7-0 and is holding on to a third place Missouri Class 3 state ranking. They are the only undefeated team left in the SEMO Conference.

“It’s awesome, being undefeated is a good feeling,” Grams said. “It’s been good for the community, all of our hard work and talent feels amazing. We just want to keep riding on that feeling.”

Their next matchup will be against Park Hills Central at Dexter on Oct. 11.

Kennett will host Poplar Bluff for their senior night game on the same night at 7 p.m.
