Semifinals are set at SCAA volleyball tourney
MARBLE HILL — The semifinals are set for the Stoddard County Activities Association volleyball tournament.
Top-seeded Dexter downed No. 8 Richland 25-9, 25-6, 25-4 on Monday, while third-seeded Woodland defeated No. 6 Bloomfield 25-17, 25-22, 25‑16 later that evening. On Tuesday, No. 2 Advance beat seventh-seeded Puxico 25-15, 25-6, 25-11, and No. 5 Bell City defeated fourth-seeded Bernie 25-15, 25-13, 17-25, 25-16.
For Dexter, Kate Nichols had nine kills and eight digs against Richland, while Essner added six kills and three aces and Menley had five kills and four aces. Cali White had four aces, seven digs and 26 assists.
The win was also the Lady Bearcats’ 20th win of the season.
In Tuesday action, Olivia Kennedy had 14 kills and six blocks for Advance (17-9-2), while Addison Carlton added nine kills and seven digs. Emma Eilers had six aces and five kills Tuesday night, while Ava Bowling added five aces, Brogan Hawkins had three aces and six digs, and Kyndall Hitt added 27 assists and five digs.
Dexter and Bell City will square off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in semifinal action, while Advance faces Woodland at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal. The winner of Thursday’s matches will meet at 8:30 p.m. on Friday for the championship, while the losers will play for third at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The junior varsity championship will take place at 7 p.m., between the two varsity matches.
