Blaire Riley earns all-state honors after record-breaking season
BENTON, Mo. — Kelly has much to celebrate as several of its softball players have been recognized for their outstanding contributions this season.
For the second consecutive year, Blaire Riley earned all-state honors from the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association.
This season, she concluded with an impressive .495 batting average and smashed 12 home runs, solidifying her status as a powerhouse. She also demonstrated her adaptability and leadership to the team by transitioning from an all-state outfielder last year to the starting shortstop this year.
“She transitioned easily because she is such a skilled athlete and great competitor,” said Kelly coach Melanie Heuring. “She led off for us in the lineup and was a huge threat at the plate for the opposing teams.”
Riley's accolades extend beyond the all-state recognition. She was also selected first-team All-SEMO Conference, All-Class 2, District 1, and All-Class 2 Region 1.
Her record-breaking performances have set new benchmarks at Kelly, as she established single-season and career records for both home runs and doubles.
While Blaire Riley's achievements are remarkable, she is not the only player to earn accolades this season.
Senior Miley Estes, recognized as second-team all-district and all-conference.
"Miley Estes pitched and played outfield for us this year,” Heuring said. “She was a very consistent offensive player for us in the lineup, ran the bases well, and was a huge asset to our team.”
Molly Johnson, another senior, earned second-team all-district honors.
"Molly Johnson did a great job catching for us and our two pitchers this year,” Heuring said. “She was a strong hitter in our lineup.”
Avree Riley, a sophomore, also made her mark by securing a spot on the second-team all-district.
“Avree Riley did a great job playing third base for us this year as a sophomore, having never played there before,” Heuring said. “She was our lefty that batted second in the lineup and could bunt to move runners or get on with a slap hit.”
Mady Johnson, another senior, was recognized at first base, earning second-team all-district honors.
“Mady Johnson was a strong defensive first baseman who only had one error all year,” Heuring said. “She could stretch, dig and hold onto the ball and saved our infielders so many times.”
These achievements not only highlight individual talents but also reflect the strength and depth of the program. As the team looks ahead, the contributions of these players, particularly the seniors, will be remembered both on and off the field.
