Lady Mules swim to big victory over Notre Dame
The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules swimming and diving team won eight of 12 events to defeat Notre Dame 99-71 in Monday’s home opener at the Black River Coliseum pool.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Keira Willis, Lily Gregory, Abby Bledsoe and Hannah Bledsoe won with a time of 2:10.56 to set the tone for the meet.
Other winners include Kate Scott (50 freestyle, 28.46 seconds; 100 freestyle, 1:02.92), Abby Bledsoe (500 freestyle, 6:08.34), Gregory (100 backstroke, 1:13.33), Willis (100 breastroke, 1:27.04), the 200 freestyle team of Willis, Gabrielle Balz, Gracie Brown and Kinsley Gibbs (1:57.88) and the 400 freestyle team of Scott, Gibbs, Moore, and Gregory (4:29.75).
Maclaren Moore took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:23.89, while Gregory finished third. Brown and Balz took second and third, respectively, in the 200 intermediate medley, while Abby Bledsoe and Annabelle Brandhorst placed second and third in the 100 butterfly.

At Cape Girardeau, the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules turned in a strong performance in the preliminary round of the SEMO Conference Tournament to down the Lady Eagles and even their record at 1-1 on the season.
Poplar Bluff took on top-seeded Jackson Tuesday evening in the tournament quarterfinals.
