For East Carter High School senior Anna Crowley, choosing to play softball next season at Mineral Area College was a family affair.

“What led to MAC was mostly my sister (Elizabeth) that currently plays ball there right now,” Crowley said. “Me and her are really close. I also really like (head) coach C.J. (Wright). He’s a great coach and he has given me a great opportunity. I think that MAC is going to do great things and is developing an awesome program.”

Crowley plans to get her basic courses completed while at Mineral Area, then she plans to later go into law enforcement. She said she also wants to grow “as a player and a person” while at MAC.

Crowley has been an integral part of East Carter softball throughout her four years of high school and also was a part of the Lady Redbirds’ postseason run in 2021.

“What stands out most from my high school career?” Crowley said. “Going to state my freshman year and being a part of such a great team.

“After my freshman year, our team has really struggled but we are strong and do our best to be the best that we can be for each other.”

Crowley is the daughter of Curtis and Nancy Crowley. She will join East Carter teammate MyKencie Hutchison at MAC next season.
