Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

SCAA Tournament to start later this week

The Stoddard County Activities Association boys basketball tournament which was suppose to start last Monday has been rescheduled for later this week.

The tournament will be more spread out than the original schedule with the teams still having previously scheduled games in between.

No. 1 Bernie will kick the varsity tournament off on Thursday against Woodland at 5 p.m. followed by No. 2 Advance taking on Puxico at 6:30.

The first round will continue on Saturday with No. 4 Bell City battling No. 5 Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m. followed by No. 3 Dexter vs. No. 6 Richland at 6:00 p.m.

The semifinals will be played next Monday at 7:00 and 8:30 p.m. with the championship taking place on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 p.m.

The junior varsity tournament starts this Thursday with Dexter taking on Woodland at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, Bloomfield will take on Bell City at 1:30 p.m. followed by Bernie versus Puxico at 3:00 p.m.

The semifinals will be at 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. next Monday with the championship at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 12.
