Two upsets at OFC Tourney
Just got in from a solid eight hours of baseball at Raider Field on the campus of TRCC Poplar Bluff. Here's a short run down on what went down. Full stories and pictures in the DAR on Tuesday.
(3) Twin Rivers started things off with a 10-4 win over (6) Naylor
The Royals scored runs in each of the first four innings. Naylor cut to score to 6-3 in top of the 3rd but the Royals scored twice in the 3rd and twice more in the 4th.
Ryan Nippe pitched 6 2/3 inn. for the win. Garret Stockton, Colby Huggins and Chris Morse each scored two runs. Huggins knocked in three runs.
Ethan Woolard had three RBIs for Naylor
(5) Doniphan took a 3-0 win from (4) Neelyville
Doniphan's Wesley Smith and Matt Crews combined on a one-hitter.
The Dons got a run in the third on an RBI from Crews and Jordan Casteel had a two-run double in the fifth.
Neelyville pitchers Austin Russom and Sheldon Edmundson held Doniphan to six hits on the day.
(7) East Carter jumped on (2) Greenville early for a 6-3 win
The Redbirds scored twice in the first, once in the second and twice in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
Greenville made it 5-3 in the fifth and East Carter added one more in the seventh.
Daniel Stromatt, Josh Louis, Dustin Nichols and Chris Newman each had RBIs for East Carter.
Nick Wren and Mykel Limanen had RBIs for Greenville.
Stromatt pitched the complete game for East Carter allowing five hits while striking out eight.
The OFC semifinals will be Tuesday at TRCC
(1) Clearwater will face (5) Doniphan at Noon
(3) Twin Rivers take on (7) East Carter at 2:30
