Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

Bloomfield Christmas Tournament Set

Here is the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament draw. The first round takes place Dec. 26 starting at 9 a.m. with the quarterfinals on Dec. 28, the semis on Dec. 29 and the championship on Dec. 30. A complete bracket and preview will appear in the DAR in the coming weeks.

(1) Bernie (5-0) vs. (16) East Carter (0-3), 9 a.m.
(8) Twin Rivers (3-2) vs. (9) Doniphan (3-1), 7 p.m.

(5) Dexter (0-4) vs. (12) Van Buren (1-2), 2:30 p.m.
(4) Richland (4-1) vs. (13) Malden (1-3), 12:45 p.m.

(6) Bloomfield (3-2) vs. (11) East Prairie (2-3), 4 p.m.
(3) Kennett (2-3) vs. (14) Puxico (1-4), 11:30 a.m.

(7) Hayti (3-2) vs. (10) South Pemiscot (1-4), 5:30 p.m.
(2) Portageville (2-0) vs. (15) Greenville (1-3), 10:15 a.m.

One interesting observation . . . In past years the tournament has started at 10 a.m. This season the tournament is starting at 9 a.m. Does anyone know why the time was changed to 9 a.m?

It appears Bernie will roll through the tournament this year. The #2 seed just lost to the #8 seed and the #3 seed has a losing record? This may be the weakest the Bloomfield tournament has ever been.

Where would Advance(4-1), Oak Ridge(5-0), and Oran (3-2) be seeded in this tournament. Advance and Oran have both lost to SCC.

Seldom do any teams play well during the morning, especially after long bus rides! I'd rather a see couple of days added to the tournament and eliminate morning games. I feel crowds would increase and team performances would improve!
