Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

OFC Semifinals Update

UPDATE: The times for Thursday are as follows.

Third place: (5) Naylor vs. (6) Doniphan -- 1 p.m.

Championship: (1) Twin Rivers vs. (2) Clearwater -- 3 p.m.

We've got finals from the Ozark Foothills Conference semifinals that were played today.

(1) Twin Rivers 10, (5) Naylor 0, 6 inn.

(2) Clearwater 9, (6) Doniphan 2

That sets up a final between Twin Rivers and Clearwater, a rematch from last year's OFC championship and last spring's Class 2 sectional game. The Tigers won in both instances.

Twin Rivers beat Clearwater earlier this fall with a 5-0 score. Garret Stockton pitched for Twin Rivers and had 15 Ks that game while Logan Morris had seven Ks for the Tigers.

Stockton and Morris are the projected starters for Thursday according to their coaches.

The Doniphan Don's just made too many mistakes today with 5 errors. Clearwater had none and that was pretty much the game. I'm not sure but I think Clearwater had 5 hits and Doniphan had 4.

Wesley Smith, who pitched a 2 hitter Monday against Greenville and who also plays short and third base was sick, throwing up before the game and could not play. Coach Rose was also sick and never left the dugout.

Clearwater played a good mistake free game and deserved to win.

The schedule for Thursday is a 1pm 3rd place game and Championship game following it

This should be another good battle between two of the better teams in the Southeast. Both teams with good players, coaches, and tradition.

Good luck, we look forward to the spring for the challenges that these teams will bring. When you play these two squads, better bring your "A" game every day.

We have been trying to get our teams to do a 3rd place game but there's not a lot of interest.
