Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

The Clearwater Tigers topped Twin Rivers in the Ozark Foothills Conference final, 6-0, for their third straight OFC title

Naylor wins third place over Doniphan, 8-2.

Twin Rivers and Clearwater r both well coached. It sounds like Cleatwater has come a long way this fall. Nice fall for both teams. I doubt this is the last, BIG game they play against each other.

These are two excellent teams. Unless they windup in the same district (which is possible, assignments in late Dec.) they will have a chance next spring to meet in sectionals. I thought from the August game with Clearwater and their performance at West Plains that they would be the team to beat in October. Mainly becuase their players were inexperienced early (not many innings on defense or at bats). As the season goes on, the inexperienced talent starts to develop and then you make plays, don't strike out, and do the little things to win.

When you graduate a lot of seniors as they did it takes awhile for the moving up players to catch up. Good luck to both teams this spring, we look forward to the challenge. We have Twin Rivers at Dexter in a 3 way and at Clearwater in a 3 way.
