Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

Senath-Hornersville Christmas Tournament

While I was at Neelyville last night, I got my hands on a bracket for the upcoming boys Senath-Hornersville Christmas Tournament.

Here's how it shapes up (in bracket order):

First Round:
Monday Dec. 13
(1) North Pemiscot vs. (8) Delta C-7, 4 p.m.
(4) Campbell vs. (5) Naylor, 5:30 p.m.
(2) Armorel, Ark. vs. (7) Senath, 7 p.m.
(3) Neelyville vs. (6) Southland, 8:30 p.m.

Semifinals
Tuesday Dec. 14
7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Consolation Semifinals
4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Championships
Thursday Dec. 16
Consolation, 5 p.m.
Third place, 6:30 p.m.
Championship, 8 p.m.

I will be sitting in on the seed meetings for the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament on Thursday afternoon and for the Twin Rivers Lady Royals Classic on Friday afternoon. Check back here shortly after to see the matchups.

The Senath-Hornersville Tourney is usually a good one. Over the last 20-30 years there has been some excellent compeition during this tournament. Rivercrest, Ar. and Gosnell, Ar. have over the years sent some excellent squads to take part, don't know about Armorel this year.. The competition has dropped off but it kinda goes in cycles. It used to be held the 1st week in January but has been moved up. Good luck to all the teams. North Pemiscot looks to be a clear cut favorite for this years title.

Caruthersville has already won this years tourny. North Pem finished 3rd..
