Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

Daily American Republic - January 2, 2011

I'm in the midst of a few days off here but I wanted for you all to pick up Sunday's Daily American Republic. While filing my daily reports at the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament, I also focused on the Bloomfield basketball team itself as I did a little behind the scenes work with them which included listening in on a postgame locker room speech, observing with scouting and did extensive interviews throughout the four days of the BCT.

There are lots of photos that go along with the story by DAR sports editor Brian Rosener and myself for the project. I wanted to publicly thank Bloomfield coaches Dustin Hicks and Jason Karnes for lending their time every day and giving me the opportunity.

Great story, very informative. I thought it appeared the live TV coverage of the games resulted in a significant drop in attendance during the first 3 days, but feel it provides a great opportunity to many unable to attend to follow their local teams. Eric Bowles was superlative as tournament director and host. A few glitches included: Names of coaches left off team photos. I thought overall, the all-tournament selections were good, except a "glaring" omission of Kennett's Jack Walls! The mention of Ryan Kleffer's offensive performances were very commendable. I agreed with most everyone, the performances of the National Anthem & God Bless America were outstanding! Congratulations as well to the fine work by the cheerleading squads!
