Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

OFC Third Place -- Postponed

The Ozark Foothills Conference third place games scheduled for Thursday night have been postponed. Here is the up to date schedule for the rest of the tournament.

Friday night will be the varsity championship games starting with girls at 6:30 p.m. (Neelyville vs. Twin Rivers) and boys at 8 p.m. (Twin Rivers vs. Doniphan) at Bess Activity Center at Three Rivers Community College.

On Saturday back at Clearwater High School, the boys JV semifinals will be played starting at noon followed by the varsity girls third place game at 2:30 p.m.(Naylor vs. Doniphan) and varsity boys third place game at 4 p.m (Clearwater vs. Neelyville). The championship for JV will follow.

Just wondering what others are thinking about the way the varsity boys OFC championship game ended? How do you make a call (that was questionable at best) that effectively ends the game? When the Ref called an intentional foul on Doniphan the game was over at that point! When the Ref was questioned about the call later he said Holland had both hands on the offensive players back and pushed him..THAT IS A LIE!!!!! I was sitting on the end of the gym where the foul took place and it was not flagrant nor intentional. Holland was running the floor with the ballhandler and when the layup was attempted Holland went up with him to defend the layup. The offensive player layed on the floor and acted like he was killed and after the technical was called he got up and sank both free throws and took the ball out and never left the game.

Considering the timing and importance, there was a little over one minute left in the OFC CHAMPIONSHIP game, with the score tied and the intention of the defender..I think it was THE WORSE call I have even been witness to. Rarely does an officials decision end a game and give it to one team or the other but this one did!

Just want to add. I did not like our team losing on an officials call and if it were reversed I would not like to win on an officials call. As far as the teams are concerned, both teams played their hearts out. Neither team was outplayed Friday night..one team just ended up with more points. Congratulations to Twin Rivers.

Thought it was the correct call... The holland kid had already under-cut a couple TR kids. With that being said, one call won't make a game. Congratulations to the Royals

I've known that "Holland kid" since he was a baby and he would never under-cut or intentionally hurt anyone. One call did "make a game"..that one!!!
