Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

Malden Baseball Invitational

I saw a forum poster ask about the Malden Baseball Invitational this weekend (April 15-16) so I tracked down a schedule from Green Wave coach Tim Harmon.

Here's how it looks:

Friday Game's
at Bernie
Bernie vs. Portageville -- 2 p.m.
Portageville vs. Doniphan -- 4 p.m.
Bernie vs. Doniphan -- 6 p.m.

at Malden Field 1
New Madrid Central vs. Malden -- 2 p.m.
Greenville vs. New Madrid Central -- 4 p.m.
Greenville vs. Malden -- 6 p.m.

at Malden Field 2
Holcomb vs. Oran -- 2 p.m.
Neelyville vs. Oran -- 4 p.m.
Holcomb vs. Neelyville -- 6 p.m.

Saturday's Game's
The first place team from each pool will form a new pool as will second place and third place. Game times and field locations for Saturday will be determined based on Friday's results. Each team will play a minimum four games. Game times will start mid-morning as some schools have prom later in the day.
