2011 Current River Challenge, Bernie Invitational and Lady Dawg Classic
Three early season tournaments involving many Daily American Republic area teams have been drawn in the last couple days.
(Shameless plug alert): Before you head out on the road to catch these games below, be sure to pick up Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 23 DAR newspapers. In Tuesday's edition will be the 12-page high school basketball preview for our 17-team coverage area. Also in Tuesday's and Wednesday's main sports section, there will be additional, more in-depth previews on a couple select teams primed for big seasons.
First off the Current River Challenge two-day shootout at Van Buren High School:
Friday, Nov. 25
Bunker vs. Greenville -- 9:30 a.m.
Doniphan J.V. vs. Zalma -- 11 a.m.
Doniphan vs. Winona -- 12:30 p.m.
Summersville vs. East Carter -- 2 p.m.
Meadow Heights vs. Couch -- 3:30 p.m.
Clarkton vs. Eminence -- 5 p.m.
Cabool vs. Ellington -- 6:30 p.m.
Van Buren vs. Puxico -- 8 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 26
Koshkonong vs. Clearwater -- 9:30 a.m.
Zalma vs. Summersville -- 11 a.m.
Ellington vs. Clarkton -- 12:30 p.m.
Mt. View-Liberty vs. Twin Rivers -- 2 p.m.
East Carter vs. Clever -- 3:30 p.m.
Eminence vs. Doniphan -- 5 p.m.
Alton vs. Seymour -- 6:30 p.m.
Van Buren vs. Hillcrest -- 8 p.m.
Here is a link to a bracket for this year's boys Bernie Invitational where the host Mules are the four-time defending champs and the Risco Tigers have the No. 1 seed. The tournament starts Monday, Nov. 28: 2011 Bernie Invitational.
Meanwhile the girls tournament at Van Buren -- The Lady Dawg Classic -- also gets underway on Monday, Nov. 28. The Neelyville Lady Tigers are the two-time defending champions and are once again the top-seed despite graduating six seniors off last year's team: 2011 Lady Dawg Classic.
