Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

Here are the seedings and matchups for the Tri-County Baseball Tournament which starts Monday. The first round games will be played at the highest seed's home field while the semifinals and championship are at Gideon.

Holcomb and Risco really seem to be running things in the Tri-Co these days. Hornets knocking off the Tigers the past two years in basketball finals, and now meeting in baseball. It's a shame the conference re-alignment next year will break this string up. But hats off to the Hornets for wanting to step up into a more competitive conference.

Yes, they do need to enjoy it. But as with all small schools, things can change when the talent runs dry, just a fact of life.

I received a text from a coach Wednesday afternoon the championship has been moved to 4 p.m. Thursday.
