Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

The bracket has been released for the season-opening tournament at at Arcadia Valley from Nov. 25-28. Here is the scheduled listed in bracket order.

Monday, Nov. 25
(1) South Iron vs. (8) Bismarck, 5 p.m.
(3) West County vs. (6) Lesterville, 6:30 p.m.
(2) Clearwater vs. (7) Ellington, 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 26
(4) Arcadia Valley vs. (5) Fredericktown, 6 p.m.
West County-Lesterville loser vs. Clearwater-Ellington loser, 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 27
South Iron-Bismarck loser vs. Arcadia-Fredericktown loser, 5 p.m.
South Iron-Bismarck winner vs. Arcadia-Fredericktown winner, 6:30 p.m.
West County-Lesterville winner vs. Clearwater-Ellington winner, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 28
Consolation, 5 p.m.
Third Place, 6:30 p.m.
Championship, 8 p.m.

This is always one of my favorite tournaments. I always make the trip up on Thanksgiving Day to watch the championship games.

I look for it to be another C'water and SI final, just like last year when SI won on a buzzer beater.

Just did some checking this is the oldest tourney in the state of missouri.And the top 4 seeds have a shot this year all 4 bring back almost everyone!

Even though they are just the No. 7 seed, Ellington has an exciting freshman in Marshon Morrissey. Wrote a story on him back in July and he should make some waves around here the next four years. He is 6-foot-2 1/2 and 230 pounds and played at the Junior Future 150 Elite 24 Camp over the summer and played all summer for the SEMO Bulls.

Rob,You are correct that kid has a real chance to do some special things.Ellington also has some nice young talent coming with him don't know if they have the coaching staff in place to get ellington to their full potential over the next few years!

Scores from this tourney South Iron over Bismarck 81-50,West county over Lesterville 89-43,Clearwater over Ellington 53-38 The Ellington freshman is the real deal put on a show the first half nobody could guard him needs to mature and do it for 4 quarters!
