Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

2014 Ozark Foothills Conference Baseball Tournament (East Carter wins it)

The seeds were set Wednesday for the 2014 Ozark Foothills Conference Tournament to be played at Three Rivers College's Roger Pattillo Field Oct 6-9. The East Carter Redbirds are the top seed this year and receive a first round bye. The Neelyville Tigers are the defending champions. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Here are the seeds and their records as of Wednesday afternoon:

(1) East Carter 15-2 overall, 5-1 OFC
(2) Greenville 14-3, 3-1
(3) Doniphan 8-5, 3-2
(4) Clearwater 8-3, 3-2
(5) Twin Rivers 4-10, 2-3
(6) Neelyville 11-8, 1-4
(7) Naylor 0-13, 0-4

This is one of the best baseball conferences in Missouri. East Carter County could benefit in a big way this spring from playing in a tougher conference than some of its Class 2 opponents.

One has to admire the work they are doing at Doniphan the last two years, also.
