Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. 2015 Black River League Tournament

The 2015 Black River League Tournament gets under way with the girls first round games Monday, Jan. 19 at East Carter High School in Ellsinore. The boys will start on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The defending champions are South Iron (boys) and Clearwater (girls). Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and $1 for students. Below are the brackets for the tournament.

Has to be one of the weakest conference tournaments in the state. Be shocked if anyone touches South Iron in it.

Dustin,I am not sure i agree with that statement.When i look at this league i see two potential district winners even the lower teams in this league have played some teams fairly close.Clearwater lost to Twin Rivers by two and East Carter lost to Clarkton by six.And Southern Reynolds is like 12-2 and South Iron is like 11-3!I think the two at the top have seperated themselves but the one's in the middle i think would be in the middle in any other league now i may agree with you on the bottom portion of this league pretty bad!I think Ellington could get all the way to SCC and South Iron could get all the way to columbia but South Iron has the tendacy to lay an egg come playoff time!

My pick to win the girls side of the tournament is SI. They are not very deep but there starters can play with anybody and probably have the best all around player in their freshman Mikan. The boys side of things I would have to say SI as the favorite as long as they don't overlook C-water in the semis. Ellington is also strong.

Sorry basketballfan34, but C-water Lady Tigers are 4-0 in the BRL and beat the two seed. This should be C-water's tournament to win. By the way, I would have to say that 2 time all state Lexi Morris would have something to say about SI's frosh being the best all-around player! GO TIGERS!!

Tooldogging you are correct but they haven't played VB yet nor SI. I don't believe C-water matches up well with either team. Yes all-round not just shooting and rebounding.

Dustin you are correct from both sides. The C-water girls are ranked 1st in the BRL but when the OFC comes out they will probably get the 6th seed only above EC. OFC very strong this year and always a solid conference.

Basketballfan34, I guess your right, C-water just does not match up well with VB or SI. You can remember that when they hoist the first place trophy! GO TIGERS!!

tooldogging i agree! Clearwater will beat Bunker by 20. Skaggs didnt show much last night. No way Bunker can stop Morris!Best scorer in the State!

Well the match up i was looking forward to on the boys side.Southern Reynolds and baby shaq aka Morrisey will take on the South Iron Panthers Southern Reynolds is 13-2 and South Iron is 12-3 should be worth the three dollars lol!If you like small school b-ball at all this should be a good one!I am sure both towns will turn out for this saturday night and some of the class 1 district 3 opponents and class 2 district 3 opponents will probably will want to get a look!
